YAKIMA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AWARDED GRANT FROM PACIFIC POWER FOUNDATION
[YAKIMA, WA]–On December 18, the Yakima Symphony Orchestra was awarded $5,000 in support of their upcoming Winter Moons & Appalachian Spring concert from the Pacific Power Foundation.
The mission of the Pacific Power Foundation is to support the growth and vitality of local communities through charitable investments. Since it started in 1988, the foundation has awarded more than $80 million to nonprofit organizations, and the Yakima Symphony Orchestra is honored to receive a donation that will help their mission of preserving the art of live symphonic music and music education in the Yakima Valley.
The Symphony’s Executive Director Sam McClung remarked, “This award will serve to further both the Symphony’s and the Foundation’s missions. As a first time grantee from the Pacific Power Foundation, I feel incredibly grateful to have this resource in our community.”
The Winter Moons & Appalachian Spring concert will be on January 31, 2026. The program will celebrate the art of storytelling through music and dance, in partnership with the Yakima School of Ballet, creating an unforgettable artistic experience. The performance features Winter Moons, a contemporary ballet by acclaimed Chickasaw composer Jared Impichchaachaaha' Tate, and Americana ballet classic, Copland’s Appalachian Spring.
